Mechanical Engineering: MOTHER branch of Engineering

Definition and Introduction of Mechanical Engineering

In single sentence Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the machines and their mechanism.

But MECHANICAL ENGINEERING  is one of the oldest and broadest branches of engineering. This field is also referred to as the ‘MOTHER’ branch of engineering. Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principle of physics and material science and involves in the production of heat and mechanical power for analysis,  design, manufacturing, production, operation  and the maintenance of machine & tools.

Mechanical engineering generally depend on the three factors i.e theforce, energy and the motion.

The field of mechanical engineering requires an understanding of core concepts i.e., mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, electricity, robotics, fluid mechanics, software  tools like computer-aided Design engineering (Auto CAD, Pro-E, CATIA),  management engineering to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, transport systems, heating and cooling systems, watercraft, aircraft, medical devices.

Now a days this field is pursuing developments in  fields like  composites, mechatronics, and nanotechnology. Mechanical engineering also overlapping with some other branches such as  aerospace engineering,, metallurgical engineering, marine engineering,  building services engineering, civil engineering, , petroleum engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, and chemical engineering.  Biomedical engineering, specifically with biomechanics, transport phenomena,  bionanotechnology, biomechatronics, and modeling of biological systems, like the soft tissue mechanics.

People who study or works as a mechanical engineer plays a dominant role in enhancing the design, operation, safety, economic vitality and the overall quality of life throughout the globe.

WINDOWS vs LINUX : Comparison, Features and Security of Windows and LINUX

WE ARE ON OUR JOURNEY OF LINUX…….. EARLIER I HAVE JUST  GIVEN AN INTRO OF LINUX, BRIEF HISTORY, SHELL, KERNEL…….. now here I am going to give you some points which tells you about how the Linux differs from other OS(WINDOWS).

As I have earlier discuss on the basics of linux, so here before starting the difference between linux and other operating systems working and their features, i want to tell you some quick review of  WHAT ACTUALLY THE LINUX IS :-

LINUX IS THE KERNEL OF OPERATING SYSTEMS THAT LOOK LIKE AND PERFORM AS WELL OR BETTER THAN THE FAMOUS OPERATING SYSTEMS FROM AT & T BELL LABS. LINUS TORVALDS AND A LOOSELY KNIT TEAM OF VOLUNTEER HACKERS FROM ACROSS THE INTERNET WROTE LINUX FROM SCRATCH. IT HAS ALL OF THE FEATURES OF A MODERN , FULLY FLEDGED OPERATING SYSTEM:- TRUE MULTITASKING , VIRTUAL MEMORIES, SHARED LIBRARIES, DEMAND LOADING, SHARED, COPY-ON-WRITE EXECUTABLES, PROPER MEMORY MANAGEMENT, AND TCP/IP NETWORKING.

THE TRUE MEANING OF LINUX  IS “LINUS”  WHICH MEANS TO SAY “HELLO”

COMPARISON  BETWEEN LINUX AND WINDOWS:-

LINUX

WINDOWS

1: LINUX IS AN MULTI-USER AND MULTITASKING OPERATING SYSTEM.

2: USERS CAN EDIT , CHANGE THE CODE, THE DESIGN OF THE OPERATING SYSTEMFOR THE BETTER  USING OF THE COMPUTER.

3: LINUX EVOLVED FROM DIFFERENT ORGANISATION OR CAMPANIES LIKE RED HAT, UBUNTU, ETC.

4: IT IS CUSTOMIZABLE.

5: FREELY AVAILABLE FOR OFFICE OR HOME USE.

6: HIGH SECURITY WITH MUCH FEWER AMOUNT OF BUGS.

7: BOOT FROM EITHER PRIMARY

OR LOGICAL PARTITION AND FROM ANY HARD DISK IN COMPUTER.

8: IT SEPARATES DIRECTORIES WITH A NORMAL FORWARD SLASH. EG;- /MOUNT

9: LINUX FILES NAME ARE CASE SENSITIVE.

E.G:- “cat” AND” CAT” ARE DIFFERENT FILES IN LINUX.

Capturewin 1:WINDOWS IS AN SINGLE USER OPERATING SYSTEM.
2: USERS CAN’T DO ANYTHING AS IN LINUX DUE TO THE MONOPOLY POSITION OF WINDOWS.

3: ALL STAGE BY STAGE FLAVOURS OF WINDOWS COME FROM MICROSOFT.

4: IT IS NON-CUSTOMIZABLE.

5: AVAILABLE BUT EXPENSIVE.

6: ONE CAN LOGIN WITHOUT ANY ID OR PASSWORD.IT IS NOT SO SECURE AND CONTAINS MUCH FEWER BUGS.

7: WINDOWS MUST BOOT FROM A PRIMARY PARTITION AND FROM A 1ST HARD DISK.

8: SEPARATES DIRECTORIES WITH BACK SLASH.

9: FILES NAMESARE NOT CASE SENSITIVE.

E.G:- “abc” AND “ABC” ARE SAME FILE IN WINDOWS.

Basics of linux operating system

Now a days linux is getting popularity among many corporate sector and mobiles over microsoft because of its tight security system and multi-user and multi-tasking interface. Here in this article I am going to describe completely about Linux world step by step:

linux an operating system which is not only a free operating system but lots of more…

WHAT IS LINUX ?

Linux is a kernel in short; it is a free operating system which is used
by lots of users all over the world. It is a multi-tasking and multi-user
operating system.

Now lets us proceed step by step to explore and to reach to the

LINUX IMAGE, LINUX KERNEL, LINUS TORVALDS

LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM LOGO

A BRIEF HISTORY OF LINUX-

Linus Torvalds introduces Linux in 1991. Linux is developed keeping UNIX as reference
model. We can consider Linux as another UNIX version. Mr. Linus has made the source code of the
Linux kernel explores among the world of education and to develop and change over the internet.
Linux is an open development model. It accepts modification to the kernel core. The core of the Linux is
kernel which controls the resources of the computer and allots this resource to the users and for
different tasks. In simple words kernel allows the user to interact with the hardware.as we cannot
directly access kernel, rather we need an interface to connect to kernel called “SHELL”…

UNIX SHELL

BOURNE SHELL: – original UNIX shell written by Steven Bourne at AT & T laboratory. This is the default
shell for Linux.

C SHELL: – written by bill joy at UC Berkeley.

KORN SHELL (K SHELL) :- written by DAVID KORN at AT & T lab.

X- WINDOWS SYSTEM

The x windows system for x11 is the foundation for GUI (Graphical User Interface) on Linux. The x
server works with graphics hardware (VGA) and the applications requires graphic display is an x client.
Linux provides two desktop environments.

1:- GNOME

2:-KDE

By default Linux has configured 6 virtual console and 1 x console. We can move to any virtual console
by typing ctrl + alt +Fx, where x stands for 1 to 6 and F1 is the x console.
